Quilt Block Mania - November 2022: Night Camper Block

Hello, November Quilt Block Mania-ers! I hope you all had a fun Halloween night and are fully embracing all the loveliness fall has to offer. It’s been a few months since I participated in Quilt Block Mania, but I thought this month’s camping theme was too endearing to skip. This month, in addition to my block, you can download blocks from a great group of designers for free* and get started making right away. You’ll find a photo of all the blocks and links to the other designers at the bottom of the post, but first, let me introduce you to my Night Camper block!

The Night Camper block is a simple and fun addition to your theme-block sewing repertoire. Whether you’re making a pillow or tote for a friend who loves to camp or adding it to a nature-themed sampler quilt, you’re sure to find a variety of ways to make use of this quick, easy, and colorful block. The block is designed to be used with a variety of fabrics, so have fun raiding your stash bin.

The Night Camper block pdf includes instructions for making a 12.5” block (finishes at 12”). It’s designed to be truly scrappy, but you may also want to consider using a single fabric for the outside of the tent, and I’ve included instructions for both options. The HRTs work best with solids or non-directional prints.

While I made the night sky out of shades of blue, purple, and pink, try switching up the sky colors to depict your tent at different times of day!
